US, Thailand join hands to tackle human trafficking
BANGKOK, July 25 (TNA) - The United States and Thailand have agreed to level up bilateral cooperation on anti-human trafficking.
The agreement was announced on Thursday, after US Ambassador to Thailand Kristie Kenney paid a courtesy call on Thai Justice Minister Chaikasem Nitisiri in Bangkok.
The US ambassador and the Thai justice minister discussed ways to solve the human trafficking-related problems in Thailand, after the United States has placed Thailand on its watch list on the issue, which was also raised during earlier talks between Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and US President Baruck Obama.
The Thai justice minister insisted that Thailand will continue cooperating with the United States so that the country can be withdrawn from the US watch list on human trafficking.
The US top envoy told journalists that Washington is pleased to also carry on cooperation with Thailand to further develop the Thai justice system. (TNA)
