VIENTIANE,JAN 12. 2012(KPL)- Laos and Vietnam will cooperate in developing the Nam Leng hydropower project in Laos ’ northern province of Phongsaly.

VIENTIANE,JAN 12. 2012(KPL)- Annually, Japan needs at least 36 tonnes of coffee grown in the Lao PDR in a highly market competitive price of 42,000 kip per kilo, according to President of the Lao Association Coffee Mr. Sinouk Sisombath. Mr. Somboun Saybouakeo who is President of the Coffee Producers Group in Ban Katouad said that his group exported 36 tonnes of coffee beans to Japan while his family could raise as much as 200 million kip from coffee farming per year. Besides to Japan, several companies in China are interested in buying coffee from Laos to sell in China, according to Mr. Sinouk. He said that coffee demand in the world largest economy is increased by 30 per cent annually, while coffee demand of the world is up by 2 per cent on an annual basis. President of the Dao Heuang Group, Mrs. Leuang Litdang, said that Lao coffee was largely demanded by overseas markets, particularly Japan, Cambodia, Thailand and EU.
