Vietnamese trawlers seized for illegally entering Thai waters

TRAT, January 17 (TNA) - Seven Vietnamese fishing boats have been captured and seized by a Thai navy force for illegally entering the Thai waters off the coast of the eastern Trat Province. Captain Kongkiat Thong-aram, commanding officer of a Thai navy patrol unit said that the seven Vietnamese trawlers were intercepted by the Thai navy force when they were sailing about 10 nautical miles of Koh Kood in the Gulf of Thailand, a Thai marine territory off Trat, earlier this week, acknowledging that 30 skippers and crew members of the seized seven Vietnamese trawlers have been detained at a Thai navy base in Trat. According to Captain Kongkiat, all the detained Vietnamese nationals were charged with intruding the Thai waters and will be then sent to local police for prosecution. (TNA)
