Visual Arts As Platform To Show Beauty Of Islam

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- Apart from calligraphy, visual arts such as paintings can serve as a platform to highlight the beauty of Islamic arts. Well-known painter Mazlan Noor Along, 62, who has produced many universal and religious-inspired paintings, felt satisfied when his creative works grabbed the attention of non-Muslims. “The scope of ‘dakwah’ (propagation or preaching) of Islam is very broad and we can implement it in various ways, however, whatever information we are trying to disseminate must be clear. “I hope that these artworks will become ‘dakwah’ medium and accepted by everyone,” he told Bernama after the launch of the Gema Echoes exhibition at the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage (Aswara) gallery Monday. Hence, he also invited other artists to turn the visual arts as a platform in spreading the beauty of Islam. Sharing his experience as an artist, Mazlan was really touched when his painting had influenced an atheist to embrace Islam. Mazlan, who has over 40 years in the industry, exhibited his 13 universal-inspired paintings at the exhibition, alongside three other painters, namely Dr Abdul Jalil Othman, Shafie Hassan and Charlotte Donvang. Various styles of paintings by four talented painters will be on display at the Gema Echoes exhibition at the Aswara gallery for the whole month of October. -- BERNAMA
