VP Receives UAE Ambassador

Jakarta, March 27 (Antara) - Vice President Boediono at his office here on Wednesday received United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Indonesia Ahmed Abdullah Mohammed Almusalli. "I met with Vice President Boediono to discuss bilateral relations in various fields between Indonesia and United Arab Emirates," Ambassador Ahmed Abdullah said after the meeting. During the 30-minute meeting, Vice President Boediono was accompanied by his secretaries Mohamad Oemar and Dewi Fortuna Anwar. Ahmed Abdullah noted that opportunity and possibility to step up economic cooperation between the two countries were also discussed during the meeting. "We hope cooperation in various fields between the two countries will run well and continue to improve," he said. Data from UAE Embassy here indicated that main exports from Indonesia to the United Arab Emirates were among others textile products, garments, teak woods, furniture, electronic devices, and paper, while importing oil, chemical products, iron, aluminum ores, and corn. The two countries have signed several bilateral agreements, among others on the formation of UAE - Indonesia joint commission for bilateral cooperation, and free visa for diplomatic passport holders, and the protection of Indonesian migrant workers in Arabian countries.
