VP Receives Yunnan Governor

Jakarta, April 1 (Antara) - Vice President Boediono received Yunnan Governor Li Jiheng from China at his office here on Monday to discuss economic cooperation. At the meeting with the vice president, Li Jiheng was accompanied by Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia Imron Cotan. On the occasion, Boediono said China`s relatively positive economic growth could be utilized by Indonesia to support its economy. "China is one of Indonesia`s biggest trade partners and therefore we can use it to support our economy," the vice president said. He noted that Chinese positive economic growth should serve an opportunity for Indonesia to cooperate with the country in the fields of tourism, trade, and investment. Meanwhile, Li Jiheng said Indonesia has long and positive relation with the province of Yunnan. "During the meeting with Vice President Boediono, we discuss improvement of existing cooperation in tourism, trade, and investment, in addition to exploring other mutually-beneficial cooperation," Li Jiheng said. According to him, trade volume between Indonesia and Yunnan province in 2012 was recorded at US$1.1 billion or rose by around 119 percent from the similar volume in the previous year. He pointed out that there are 11 projects, managed by Indonesian investors in Yunnan with the investment value of US$20 million, while in Indonesia there are 13 projects managed by investors from Yunnan with investment value of US$44 million. "In spite of global economic crisis, Indonesia remains a big country in Southeast Asia with good investment climate, and so does China. Yunnan Province can have closer cooperation with Indonesia in the future," Li Jiheng said.
