Water festival in eastern provinces
CHON BURI, April 18 (TNA) - Celebrants yesterday enjoyed playing water at the ‘Wan Lai” water festival in eastern provinces.
Festival goers sprinkled scented water to the statue of a famous monk and a former abbot of a temple in Chon Buri, Phrakhru Worawet Muni. People rode on the back of the pick-up truck, large bins full of water to throw water to others.
Police were ordered to provide security for the public during the festival and arrested those, drinking alcohol on the back of the pick-ups.
In Rayong, crowds went out to splashing water to one another in the fun-filled festival amid rain.
Many walked along the road but most of them preferred travelling on the back of the pick-ups, carrying water.
The province moved the holy Buddha image out of the temple in a procession for locals and tourists to perform the bathing rite.
The Wan Lai water festival here will continue to the end of this month. (TNA)
