WFMC worries about flood in Bangkok and the East
BANGKOK, September 19 (TNA) - The Water and Flood Management Committee (WFMC) is worried about floods in Bangkok and its vicinity, as well as the Eastern region of the country due to the continuous heavy rainfalls.
Director of the WFMC’s Water Resources Management Centre of the Office Pipat Ruang-ngam said Bangkok and its vicinity along with the eastern region of Thailand, would remain to be flooded in the same areas due to the continuous heavy rainfalls from the afternoon through the evening, and would remain to be so until September 22.
Giving reports about the latest water situation in eastern Sa Kaeo province, Pipat said the water level there would continuously decrease, noting that the floodwater would flow through the centre of Sa Keow and Prachinburi provinces to Bang Pakong river and then to the sea.
He said the flowing water of 500 cubic metres per second is not to be worried about since the river would be able to handle the amount water, and he believes the situation there would return to normal in 2-3 days. (TNA)
