Women Entrepreneurs Of Malaysia, Uzbekistan Urged To Venture Into Respective Markets

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) – Women entrepreneurs from Malaysia and Uzbekistan have been urged to collaborate and venture into their respective markets, particularly in the beauty, healthcare, fashion and lifestyle segments. Women Entrepreneur Network Association of Malaysia (Wena) President, Nadira Yusoff said these sectors offered vast opportunities in both countries. She added that due to this, the association has organised a forum that serves as a platform to connect local women entrepreneurs with those from Uzbekistan. "This forum is for women entrepreneurs who are ready to go into the export market. It will help them meet potential international buyers and partners. “We hope it will trigger greater trade between Malaysia and Uzbekistan," she said in her speech at the Malaysia-Uzbekistan Business Women Forum here Friday. She also noted that the event is aimed at increasing understanding of economic opportunities among women in business, while strengthening the relationship among women entrepreneur associations in Malaysia. The one-day forum was attended by five local women entrepreneurs associations, namely, Peniagawati, National Association of Women Entrepreneurship of Malaysia, Malaysian Organisation for Development of Indian Women in Career, Entrepreneurs and Professionals and Usahawan Wanita Bumiputera Malaysia. Cumulatively, these associations have about 40,480 members throughout Malaysia. The Uzbekistan women entrepreneurs were represented by the President of the Business Women's Association of Uzbekistan, Mahmudova Gulnora Gulamnazarovna. The association has 14,000 members in the country. The Uzbekistan delegation is on a five-day business tour of Malaysia to familiarise themselves with the country’s business environment. Meanwhile, women-owned Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) accounted for 186,930 or about 20.6 per cent of the total in Malaysia, with an annual growth of eight per cent. – BERNAMA
