Xieng Khouang opens new tourism site “Phoukeng mountain”

VIENTIANE, 01.30..2012 (KPL) - A new tourism site “Phoukeng mountain” in Paek district, Xieng Khouang province was opened on 23 January. The inauguration ceremony was participated by Xieng Khouang Governor Somkot Mangnormek, Chief of Paek district, Mrs. Boualy Oudomsouk, Head of Xieng Khouang Tourism Division, local authorities and officials concerned. Head of Xieng Khouang Tourism Division, Mr. Khamphet Phoummadouangkaysone said that the Phoukeng, a place to cast jars of ancient people has been declared a new tourism of province. Phoukeng, located in Lat-Ngon village, Paek district, Xieng Khouang province, is 15 km far from Phosavanh district. “Phoukeng has been identified a long history tract of ancestor fighting for independence and rounding Phoukeng area blessed with many caves and untouched forest resources.” The improvement of Phoukeng started conducting in 2010, which was solely invested by the government, worth over 17 billion kip. The improvement work is now completed by 64 %. Phoukeng will be equipped with a complex facility are available for tourists such as construction of cable car to Phoukeng. A path on East of Phoukeng, a parking, water closet system and other public facility for providing tourists will be also built.
