Yala’s market reopens after bomb attack yesterday

YALA, Jan 23 (TNA) – The Pimolchai market in Yala downtown reopens after it was hit by a bomb attack yesterday, in which three persons were killed and over 20 others were wounded. Not so many shoppers were seen this morning at the market, which is normally packed with crowds in the morning. Many shops have opened but those, selling pork remain closed as the stalls were damaged by the blast. A suspect parked the motorcycle in front of a stall, selling pork and the driver rushed from the scene minutes, before the bomb was detonated. Today, security has been tightened at the market to build confidence for traders and shoppers. Police Major General Kritsada Kaewchandee, chief of Yala provincial police visited the market to boost morale of the public. Initially, he ordered the entrance and the exit to the market be fixed to screen people and vehicles, entering the market. The Yala municipality will inform people and designate specific parking space of the market. Regarding the progress in the investigation, the police disclosed footage of CCTV camera, showing the image of a suspect in a helmet. The police will conduct further investigation to trace him.
