Young People’s Theatre: the season opening
Almaty, October 10, 2009 (Khabar) - «Akhan-Sere - Aktokty» - this drama of Gabit Musrepov has opened the 64th theatrical season of the Kazakh Academic theatre for children and youth. Two centuries ago songs of Akhan Sere sounded in whole steppe; it was the invariable winner of competitions and races on his legendary Kulager. In new staging of the theatre his well-known songs have sounded.
Performance is a story about the big love of the poet. The Innovator-director, the honored worker of culture Zhanat Hadzhiev says that in the statement only some parts were placed another way in the performance.
Zhanat Hadzhiyev, director:
- We have staged from the other side. Akhan is not against the religion but against the mosques, Koran – he is against people like Hazret who serve and use the goods that the mosque gives. That is the actuality of this tragedy in today’s world.
Young actors play in the performance. If Akhan Sere is shown as an adult in many other plays then here the poet is the personification of the youth. The role of Hazret mullah is also showed not in standard way. He was presented as a good person who can stand his position in conflict.
Zarina Karmenova, spectator:
- Everything is played well. And the season is opened by this play not accidentally. It means it has popularity and goes to the viewers’ hearts. I think that it is one of the most successful works.
“Akhan - Sere- Aktokty” play is considered as a pearl of Kazakh drama. The Kazakhstani viewers saw this spectacle in 1943 at first. The main roles then were played by Shaken Aimanov and Sholpan Zhandarbekova. Later in the period of Stalin’s repressions the play was prohibited. And the public was able to see it only in 1956.
