Young people prefer daily expression of love to Valentine’s Day

BANGKOK, Feb 14 (TNA) -- Most young people like to express their love every day instead of only on the Valentine’s Day and their love covers families and friends in addition to sweethearts, according to an opinion survey by Bangkok Poll. The poll unit of Bangkok University conducted the survey on 1,193 people aged 13-25 in Bangkok and nearby provinces on Feb 8-11. It found that 60.9% of the respondents expressed their love every day, not only on the Valentine’s Day; 49.2% said even if they had no sweethearts, they could express their love for their families and friends; and 33.1% said the expression of love on the Valentine’s Day was a western culture. For ways to express love, 46.8% of the surveyed people said they would give bouquets, chocolate and gifts directly to recipients; 24.5% planned to surprise their sweethearts with gifts without a prior notice; and 17.8% said they would express their love via social media. Of the respondents, 49% said they would spend 300-1,000 baht for the Valentine’s Day; 23.3% said they would have no expenses; and 27.7% said they had no one to give a present on the day. (TNA)
