Youth art festival held in Almaty

Almaty, October 22, 2009 (Khabar) - “Centuries conquered by the talented” is the name of the festival which took place in Almaty with the support of the Fund of the First President of Kazakhstan. The event was made up of the exhibition of young designers and painters, presentations of poetry and film made by beginning directors as well as a concert program performed by the artistes of the Seleznyov Choreographic School.

Bektas Mukhamedzhanov, executive director, Fund of the First President of Kazakhstan:
- This is a unique project as we brought together different art figures here. We also wanted them to get to know each other. We also wan to show that the fund supports them and what success they have achieved thanks to the first president’s foundation.

The Alakai puppet theatre was among the first to have received financial aid from the fund. The theatre staged the play called “Aldar the steppe legend” based on Kazakh folk tales. An art gallery opened in the fund’s premises to display the pictures drawn by young artists, photographers and sculptures.

Maria Zhumagulova, art expert:
- Today’s youth is so creative. They do not limit themselves in some certain frames as every moment is beautiful and we can see it in some traditional pictures too. The novelty is in the presentation as they risk to become more than mere realists. They can see it in a more decorative way thanks to their youth.
