By Mohd Iswandi Kasan Anuar

JAKARTA, May 22 (Bernama) -- The World Water Council together with the Indonesian government will organise the 10th World Water Forum on 18-24 May 2024 in Bali to discuss and create joint solutions to the world’s water problems.

The council president Loïc Fauchon said Indonesia is expected to be a role model for other countries, notably the Southeast Asian countries, in terms of water management.

“The 10th World Water Forum plays an important role in providing a forum for exchanging information on water issues and establishing mutual agreements on water management,” he said in a statement.

With the theme “Water for Shared Prosperity”, the forum will be held with a series of events, such as panel discussions, fairs and expos, cultural nights, and other additional activities.

The panel discussions will highlight various sub-themes, namely Water for Humans and Nature, Water Security and Prosperity, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Governance, Cooperation and Hydro Diplomacy, Sustainable Water Finance, and Knowledge and Innovation.

“We should take this as a huge opportunity to show our capacity to the world and to improve the quality of our water management,” Indonesian Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said.

The Indonesian government is targeting the participation of heads of state and ministers, 10,000 delegates and 30,000 participants, including forum participants and visitors from 172 countries.

Information regarding the forum can be accessed via the official website, https://worldwaterforum.org/.
