JAKARTA, March 10 (Bernama) -- A total of eight foreign nationals were detained following raids on apartments recently, according to the South Jakarta Immigration Office.
Those detained were two individuals from India and the Philippines whose stay permits had expired, as well as six Nigerian for various offences, including overstaying.
Two of six Nigerian with investment visas detained for failing to declare business information, its head Felucia Sengky Ratna said in a statement.
Four others are believed to be running a food business within their diaspora at apartments in Pancoran and Setiabudi.
“All suspects have since been detained pending deportation,” Felucia said.
She pointed out that these arrests, jointly conducted with the South Jakarta Foreigner Oversight Team, reflected the authorities’ firm action against immigration offenders.
