JAKARTA, May 23 (Bernama) -- Three Indonesian naval ships have arrived at Porto Malai, Langkawi, Malaysia to take part in the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA’23).

KRI Kerambit-627, KRI Halasan-630 and KRI Golok-688 arrived on Monday from Belawan, Tanjung Uban and Jakarta, after sailing a distance of 1,066 nautical miles.

According to Fleet Command I, the participation in LIMA 2023 will allow the Indonesian Navy and the host country Malaysia to work together closely and strengthen bilateral relations.

“It will also establish multilateral relations with other participant countries at the event,” the command noted in a statement.

The Indonesian delegation will carry out activities such as fleet reviews and conduct onboard search and seizure (VBSS) demonstration by its Kopaska (Komando Pasukan Katak) team during the event.

Others include sea demonstrations, and farewell passes with all participants from other countries.

A cultural festival will also be held featuring traditional dances, while a culinary festival will feature a variety of traditional foods.

LIMA’23, the largest ever held so far involves 1,200 companies from home and abroad with the theme “The Nexus of Asia’s Maritime and Aerospace Trade”.

The 16th edition event starts today and will end on May 27 with the aerospace-related exhibition held at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre and the maritime segment will be at Resorts World Langkawi.
