Iranian Official: The New Railway Project In Iraq Will Be Distinguished For The Transportation Of Goods

Baghdad / NINA / - The delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran stressed the importance of the Development Road Project, pointing to the existence of many opportunities for the countries of the region in transporting goods through the new railways.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport in the Islamic Republic, Effendi Zadeh, said, in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA), that "the region has many possibilities and opportunities related to railway corridors north-south and east-west corridors, and based on those capabilities for all countries in the region such as Iran, the Emirates, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Oman, there are many opportunities in this field.

He added, "The new railway project in Iraq will be distinguished in the transportation of goods, and we have a large project between Iraq and Iran, which is the railway connection from Shalamcheh to Basra, and we will start working on a detailed phase of this project in the coming days."

He explained, "Iran has experience in the field of transit and transporting goods to Russia and Central Asian countries, and we are looking forward to joint work in new areas of cooperation in the transportation of goods, as there are more than 1,500 kilometers of railways in Iran, and we have a project study to develop and increase the existing railways in Iran ".

The Iranian official stressed that "the great project that has now begun in Iraq, the "Development Road", will have an important role in the field of transporting goods and delivering them to Europe via Iran or Iraq, and it is an excellent opportunity for the countries of the region so that all countries in the region can benefit from the project."/ End
