Aikido to be taught in Da Nang college
Da Nang, August 24 (VNA) - Aikido, a defensive martial art from Japan, has been included as part of physical training at the Dong A College in Vietnam's central city of Da Nang for 2016-17.
Chairman of the private Dong A College, Nguyen Thi Anh Dao, said it’s the first college in the central and central highlands provinces to include the martial art in the curriculum along with karate, taekwondo, football and volleyball.
Japanese masters will start training students later this year.
The college also established karate, aikido and taekondo clubs for regular training three days a week along with life-skills programmes.
The private college and William Angliss Institute from Australia have started a personnel training programme for the hospitality, tourism and culinary arts sectors for the 2016-17 period, as well as Japanese language training in cooperation with Route Inn Group from Japan.
Aikido, which debuted in Vietnam in 1958, was introduced in Da Nang 33 years ago./.
