In Kyrgyzstan, physicians constitute almost 17% of total number of COVID-19 cases

In Kyrgyzstan, 16.8% of all those infected with COVID-19 coronavirus infection are physicians, Head of the Public Health Department of the Health Ministry Ainura Akmatova told a news briefing Monday. According to her, the total number of medics contracted COVID-19 is 2,829, or 16.8% of the total number of infected in the country. "Of those, almost half are average medical personnel - 43.7%. These include aides to sanitary doctors, laboratory assistants and nurses. 34.7% are doctors, 11% are nursing assistants and 10.6% are employed, i.e. drivers, programmers, storekeepers and others," she said. Akmatova said the age of the medics infected is 45, ranging from 23 to 69. "Of the medics contracted coronvairus, 85% are women and 15% are men. By region, the highest number of those infected in the city of Bishkek - 33.7%, while Talas Oblast accounts for the smallest number - 1.6%," the Health Ministry’s representative added.
