Nepalese Factory Operator Commits Suicide By Hanging Himself
LAHAD DATU (Sabah, Malaysia) July 23 (Bernama) – A Nepalese factory operator was found to have hung himself at a factory near here Sunday morning.
Lahad Datu District Police chief ACP Hamzah Ahmad said the victim Lal Bahadur Bhandari, 25, was found hanging from a palm oil tank pipe by an employee at 6.55 am.
"Initial investigations revealed that the victim had worked from 3 pm to 11 pm Saturday and did not return to the factory’s workers quarters at Taman Warisan Empat after telling a driver he still had work to do.
"But this (Sunday) morning, the victim was found hanging from a nylon strap tied to an oil pipe. He is believed to have climbed on to a tank’s valve to secure the rope to the pipe before putting a noose round his neck and stepping off," he said in a statement here Sunday.
Hamzah said the initial investigation found that the incident did not involve criminal or treacherous elements.
He added that the victim had one wife and two sons in Nepal and had worked at the plant for the past three years.
"The victims had also returned to Nepal in January this year," he said.
