Perak: The New Filming Hub

IPOH (Perak, Malaysia), Feb 20 (Bernama) -- The Perak state government will set up the Perak Film Office in the effort to turn the state into a filming hub and provide a platform for local arts activists to do filming. State Tourism, Arts, Culture, Communications and Multimedia Committee chairman, Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said they were now drawing up the organisational structure and the film office was expected to begin operations soon. "God willing, we want to turn Perak into a filming hub for producers and other industry players. "Previously, production houses had also carried out filming for dramas or documentaries in the state, as many of the local artistes come from Perak. However, the state has yet to gain full exposure from the films produced." Nolee Ashilin told this to reporters after attending a special screening of the film, 'Kanang Anak Lankau: The Iban Warrior', held in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2017 at the Golden Screen Cinema in Ipoh Parade, here, Saturday night. The film, produced by Tangan Seni Sdn Bhd and directed by well-known director, Bade Azmi, tells the story of national hero, the late Kanang Anak Langkau. Interestingly, the film has Kanang's own son, Langgi Anak Kanang, as the main character together with Adi Putra and other popular actors and actresses including Johan As'ari, Zach X-Factor, Adam Shahz and Livonia Guing. On the choice of Ipoh for the premiere screening of the film, Nolee Ashilin said this was because about 80 per cent of the filming was conducted in the forest area of the state. "It is indeed an honour for Perak to be chosen for the premiere screening (of the film)," she said. -- BERNAMA
