Pos Malaysia Issues Stamps Featuring Malaysian Serama For CNY

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6 (Bernama) -- Pos Malaysia Bhd (Pos Malaysia) has chosen to issue stamps featuring the Malaysian Serama, a prominent breed of rooster known for its protruding chest, in conjunction with this year's Chinese New Year. The rooster is the zodiac sign for 2017 and the new stamps will be available at post offices nationwide on Jan 10. Group Chief Executive Officer Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh in a statement Friday urged the public, especially stamp enthusiasts, to grab the Malaysian Serama stamps. The three stamp designs are valued at US$0.20 (90 sen) for Serama A and Serama Remaja, US$0.22 (RM1) for Serama B, Serama Induk and Anak Serama, US$0.24 (RM1.10) for Serama Muda and Serama Tanpa Lawi. (US$1 = RM4.47) In addition, other philatelic products such as the First Day Covers inclusive of a brochure are sold at 55 sen each, and folders at RM6.35. Mohd Shukrie said the cancellation mark, a postal marking applied on postage stamps to prevent it from being re-used, will feature the Serama’s outline of its upright and protruding chest.
