Woman Photographer Picked To Participate In Ukraine Gallery Exhibition

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Siti Zubaidah Rusli, a photo studio owner from Bandar Baru Bangi near here, never thought the photographs on her website www.eyesofgrace.net, would attract the attention of a gallery abroad which has offered to exhibit them at the "International Photo Exhibition: All Children Cry and Laugh In The Same Language". The Yelisavetgrad Gallery in Ukraine has included her pictures in an exhibition of a collection of photographs of children, with various emotional expressions, from around the world including Russia, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Ukraine, from Sept 18 to Oct 1. "I was informed by e-mail in July that the Gallery had picked three of my photographs for the exhibition," Siti Zubaidah, 34, told Bernama. "I'm thrilled with this achievement of course, as my work has been recognised internationally. I understand that it's the first time a Malaysian woman photographer has been picked by the Gallery," said the Universiti Putra Malaysia graduate in Computer and Communication Engineering. Siti Zubaidah said she had no formal photography skills but her passion for the field led her to study it in depth. "I started dabbling in photography after my first child was born, and my baby was my favourite subject," she said. -- BERNAMA
