MALAYSIAN PM NAJIB MEETS US INVESTORS AT NYSE, LAUNCHES INVEST MALAYSIA FORUM
From D. Arul Rajoo
NEW YORK, May 18 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak
arrived at the New York Stock Exchange at 11.30am on Tuesday (11.30pm Malaysian
time) to meet US's investors and later launch the inaugural "Invest Malaysia New
York 2011" forum.
Najib was greeted on arrival by Chief Operating Officer of NYSE Euronext
Lawrence Leibowitz.
After a 15-minutes meeting between the two, Najib proceeded to a VIP
roundtable lunch with captains of the American industry.
The highlight of Najib's visit to the NYSE will be his keynote address at
"Invest Malaysia" to about 360 brokers, bankers, index providers, multinational
companies and fund managers.
Two hundred and one American delegates, representing total assets under
management of US$6 trillion, are participating in the forum held for the first
time at NYSE on Wallstreet, the world’s leading and most technologically
advanced equities market.
At the New York Stock Exchange, the world's largest stock exchange by market
capitalisation, Malaysia's top 10 corporates are scheduled to hold over 100
one-to-one meetings with reputable fund managers over the next two days.
Najib, who visited the NYSE last Sept, mooted "Invest Malaysia New York
2011" in an effort to attract US investors into the Malaysian equity market as
well as other markets in the Southeast Asia region.
