Malaysians In South Korea Reminded to Stay Safe As The Country Issues Heavy Rain Alert

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- The Embassy of Malaysia in Seoul is reminding Malaysians in South Korea to take precautionary measures as the Korea Meteorological Administration has issued heavy rain alert across the country that has seen severe flooding over the last few days.

“As issued by the Korea Meteorological Administration and based on the weather forecast, heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely to happen, leading to flooding in lowland areas, rivers and reservoirs and affecting the walkways and underpass along the river.

“We would like to remind all Malaysians to take precautionary measures by avoiding those areas. In addition, please exercise a high degree of caution when passing by construction sites, slopes, retaining walls, shafts and others,” the embassy said on its Twitter account, @MYEmbSeoul on Monday.

Earlier, Yonhap news agency reported four more bodies have been recovered from a flooded underground road in central South Korea, bringing the number of people dead or missing in recent downpours to 49, the officials said Monday.

Across the country, 10,570 people evacuated their homes due to rain damage, Yonhap quoted the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters.
