MATRADE Market Readiness Programme Helps Export Malaysian Products to Germany
PUNCAK ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia), July 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) through its Market Readiness Programme has collaborated with partners in Germany to bring Malaysian products onto the shelves of local retailers with a network of 40 branches throughout the republic.
MATRADE deputy chief executive officer (CEO) (export acceleration) Sharimahton Mat Saleh said the success of reordering by the German buyer for popsmalaya ice bars produced by Doluvo Sdn Bhd is a testimony that Malaysian products are accepted by the German market specifically, and the European market generally.
She said the Market Readiness Programme is an effective platform for Malaysian companies to venture into new markets as it offers an engaging and comprehensive hand-holding programme designed to equip capable Malaysian companies with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to ensure success.
"The rigorous selection process was undertaken by partners to ensure products marketability and those shortlisted were required to undergo a detailed assessment of readiness on regulatory compliance including labelling and packaging," she told a press conference after officiating the flag-off export shipment to Germany under the MATRADE Market Readiness Programme here, Monday.
Sharimahton said five stock-keeping units of shelf-stable ambient ice bars are exported in this second shipment of a full-load 20-footer container after the initial trial shipment of four pallets in 2021.
Meanwhile, Doluvo CEO Yasmin Karim further said that participants such as Doluvo had gained access to global market intelligence as well as training and mentoring from experienced MATRADE officers and partners throughout this programme.
"It was quite timely when MATRADE introduced the programme amid the challenge faced by us to recover the business from the pandemic. Programme participants were given precious opportunities to get access to markets abroad, although we were unable to be in the market physically," she added.
Established in 2016, Doluvo exports its popsmalaya ice bars to more than 10 countries, such as Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, France, Germany, the US, China, South Korea, Brunei, Singapore, and India.
MATRADE is Malaysia’s national trade promotion agency.
