Muslims In Malaysia Celebrates Eid al-Adha

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), June 29 (Bernama) -- Muslims in Malaysia Thursday celebrated Hari Raya Aidiladha (Eid al-Adha), one of the biggest religious festivals for Muslims worldwide with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim performing the Aidiladha prayers with thousands of congregants at the Putra Mosque here.

This is Anwar's first Aidiladha prayer with the people of Putrajaya since he took over the helm of the country's administration in November last year. 

Anwar also joined in the ‘takbir raya’ ceremony with 20,000 congregants before performing the Aidiladha prayers led by the Grand Imam of the Putra Mosque, Salahuddin Ghozali. 

The Malaysian premier also attended a sermon delivered by Salahuddin titled ‘Nilai Pengorbanan (The Value of Sacrifice).

Meanwhile, several states in Malaysia including Selangor, Johor, Terengganu, Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak observed a lively Aidiladha celebration with mosques filled with Muslims as early as 7 am to perform Aidiladha prayers.

In the nation's capital of Kuala Lumpur, Muslims both locals and foreigners performed prayers at the National Mosque led by the mosque's Grand Imam Ehsan Mohd Husni.
