The National Security Adviser discusses with the Iranian FM the latest developments in the political and security situation in the region
Baghdad / NINA /- The National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, discussed with Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian the latest developments in the political and security situation in the region.
A statement by the National Security Chencellry stated that Al-Araji received, today, Thursday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdullahian, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Iranian ambassador in Baghdad, Muhammad Kazem Al Sadiq, and the Iraqi ambassador to Tehran, Naseer Abdul Mohsen.
During the meeting, according to the statement, they discussed the relations between Baghdad and Tehran and ways to develop them to serve the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples, in addition to discussing the latest developments in the political and security situation in the region .
Al-Araji praised the wisdom of Iranian foreign policy by working to stabilize the region and restore relations with neighboring countries, expressing his hope that the embassies in Riyadh and Tehran would be opened soon, which would bring more security and stability to the region.
Al-Araji also indicated that the government won a great consensus, and that it is continuing to implement its government program, according to its specific timings.
For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister affirmed that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports a stable and unified Iraq, indicating that the relations between the two countries are not only official, but also include the popular level, and that Iraqis and Iranians are one people ./ End
