NIHR participates in APF meeting

Geneva, Mar. 15 (BNA): National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) President Ali Ahmed Al Derazi and NIHR Secretary-General Counselor Yasser Ghanem Shaheen participated in the annual meeting of Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF), on the sidelines of the annual Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) meeting.

The meeting reviewed 40 activities and approved the forum’s financial report, and the operations plan for the years 2023-2024 that aims to include more national human rights institutions in the Asia-Pacific region that comply with the Paris Principles.

The meeting discussed the proposed amendments to the articles of association of GANHRI.

The amendments aim at increasing oversight of all national institutions, whether classified A or B status, to ensure their compliance with the Paris Principles.

The meeting also approved the forum's strategic plan for the years 2023-2027.
