NIHR receives delegation from UAE counterpart

Manama, June 14 (BNA): The National Institute for Human Rights (NIHR) received a delegation from the United Arab Emirates National Human Rights Institution (NHRI), led by Chairperson Maqsoud Kruse.
The meeting came within the framework of developing cooperation and exchanging expertise.
Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, NIHR President, affirmed the strength of Bahrain-UAE cooperation in various sectors, supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Shaikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
The meeting discussed human rights issues and the latest human rights developments and events in the region.
The two sides highlighted the importance of coordinating training programs to uphold human rights.
Al Derazi gave a briefing on the objectives and programmes of the NIHR to address human rights issues, and its role in submitting human rights related recommendations to Bahrain's legislative and executive branches.
The visiting delegation was also briefed on the tasks of committees in NIHR, the inspection visits made by the institute and the reports it issues.
NHRI Chairperson emphasized the deep bilateral relations and the importance of cooperation in promoting human rights.
