‘Era of a fake American empire has come to an end’

ARDABIL,Oct.29(MNA) – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Sunday that the era of a “false” American empire has come to an end, highlighting the key role Iran can play at this critical juncture. “Now, we are at a critical juncture, and if the Americans, considering their goals and policies, can move further forward, the situation will become difficult,” Larijani said, adding, “At this point, we should determine (the fate of our confrontation) with them, and they should become aware that the era of their false empire has come to an end. And we hope that in this situation the Islamic Republic of Iran will be able to realize its domestic potential.” He went on to say that the United States once sought to play the role of a superpower in the region through occupying Afghanistan and Iraq and later decided to establish an “integrated global governance” system, but the Islamic Republic acted wisely during that period and foiled its plots. Iran managed to prevent the establishment of a dictatorial ruling system in the region, he said, adding, “Iran played a highly important role in this regard because European and Eastern countries escaped after the occupation of Iraq by the United States, and it was only Iran that confronted the United States, and Iran’s strategy brought about the (Islamic) Awakening in the region.”
