‘Rafsanjani has again said he will not run for president’

TEHRAN,May 8(MNA) – Iranian former intelligence minister Ali Younesi said on Tuesday that in a meeting that he had had with Expediency Council Chairman Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani on Monday night, the former president again insisted that he would not run for president. “I personally had a meeting with Hashemi Rafsanjani last night, and once again he insisted that he would not enter the election scene,” Younesi told reporters as he was accompanying Hassan Rohani to the Interior Ministry headquarters to register for the presidential election. On a report saying that former vice president Mohammad Reza Aref had said that Rohani was not a reformist, Younesi said it was true that he and Rohani were not members of a reformist party or group but they both were “reformist-minded.”
