‘Waves of resistance provide good opportunity to stand up to Israel’

TEHRAN,Aug.7(MNA) - Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili said the spread of resistance in the region has provided a good opportunity to run massive campaigns against the Zionist regime. Jalili made the remarks during a meeting with Lebanese President Michel Sleiman in Beirut on Monday. He said that the great potential for resistance in the region should not be allowed to be wasted for tribal and religious divisions. The enemies are seeking to rob regional countries of the opportunity of resistance against the United States and the Zionist regime, he said, adding the U.S. and some other colonialist powers, which themselves are the source of problems in the region, cannot be a solution to the problems. Jalili also emphasized the need for further consultation between Tehran and Beirut to consolidate ties. During the meeting, Sleiman described the relations between the two countries as good and said that the sides are determined to enhance ties. Sleiman also confirmed that he will attend the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran in late August. In a separate meeting on Monday, Jalili and Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri held talks on various issues, including the latest developments in the region and the world. Jalili said those dictators, who were allied to the U.S. and supported the Zionist regime’s crimes, are not in power any longer and this has provided an opportunity for resistance.
