2 Iranian pilgrims killed in terrorist attack in Iraq

TEHRAN,Dec.15(MNA) – At least two Iranian pilgrims were killed and 20 others injured in a terrorist attack in Iraq on Friday. In an interview with the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency, an official at Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization said the incident happened when a bomb was detonated near a bus transporting Iranian pilgrims to the holy Iraqi city of Samarra. Massoud Akhavan said that the bus was carrying Iranian pilgrims from the northern Iranian province of Mazandaran. He said that the incident is under investigation. He added that the names of people who were killed and injured in the terrorist attack will be announced soon. Every day hundreds of Iranians visit the holy shrines in Iraq. And every so often, Iranian pilgrims come under attacks by terrorists who seek to create religious division and undermine security in Iraq.
