21,505 people brought to Turkey from Libya
ANKARA (A.A)- 02.03.2011 - A total of 21,505 people, who were evacuated from Libya, were brought to Turkey by planes and ships so far.
2,982 of them are foreign nationals, stated Turkish Prime Ministry Disaster & Emergency Management Directorate on Wednesday.
"A total of 21,505 people have arrived in our country from Libya by 67 planes, five ships, one frigate including 18 scheduled flights, 25 private evacuation planes and 24 military planes. 2,982 of the passengers are foreign nationals," said the directorate.
Meanwhile, the number of people, who were evacuated from Libya, would reach 22,554 together with 1,049 passengers --including 888 foreigners-- in "Ankara" ferry that departed from Tripoli for Istanbul.
According to unconfirmed reports, around 1,000 people have been killed in Libya during protests against Muammar al-Qadhafi's 42-year reign.
