300-page economic document drawn up for NAM summit

TEHRAN,Aug.26(MNA) – A 300-page economic document has been drawn up for the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran, according to the secretary general of the NAM expert meetings. Appreciating the need to “oppose unilateral sanctions and extrajudicial measures by certain countries and the necessity of ratifying a nuclear weapons convention are among Iran’s proposals in the meeting’s document,” Mohammad Mehdi Akhoundzadeh stated on Saturday. “In the document of the 16th Heads of State Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, the unilateral measures of the United States against Syria has been condemned and the fact that no one should interfere in (the determination of) the internal destiny of (other) countries has been stated,” he added. Elsewhere in his remarks, Akhoundzadeh said Iran has made great achievements in various spheres despite the sanctions, noting, “Given the status of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the countries that are influential in regard to economic relations, including China and Russia, will participate in the meeting.” The XVI Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement opened in Tehran today and closes on Friday. The NAM foreign ministerial meetings will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, and NAM leaders are scheduled to attend the summit on Thursday and Friday.
