700,000 Aghan Refugees Live Illegally In Iran

Tehran, May 28, IRNA - Director General of the Bureau of Aliens and Foreign Nationals Affairs (BAFIA) Aziz Kazemi said Tuesday some 700,000 Afghan refugees live illegally in Iran. Speaking to IRNA, Kazemi said that Tehran would treat the unauthorized foreigners in accordance with the law. The official noted that the Afghan government was not completely successful at having precise control over border crossing of its citizens due to the long Iran-Afghanistan border lines. Noting that it was difficult for Iran to have one-sided control over its joint borders with Afghanistan, Kazemi urged the Afghan side to exert further control over its borderlines and stop illegal border crossings of its citizens./end
