ABOUT DIALOGUE ON DISASTER RISK REDUCTION

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A press conference was called on a resent high-level development dialogue on strengthening a coherence between disaster risk reduction in response to climate change and a sustainable development. The report was made by Mr U.Khurelsukh, the Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia, and by Ms Margareta Wahlstrom, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). The Deputy Premier highlighted that the participation of Ms Wahlstrom in the dialogue just after fires occurred in eastern aimags of Mongolia proves the UN attaches a great importance to this event. Organizing the dialogue gives us opportunities to create a coherence in all levels to reduce disaster risks and to carry out a wide-range policy and actions. Appreciating the media’s participation in activities against disasters, Ms Wahlstrom emphasized that the media is big force to deliver information to the public and to educate them, and spoke about a possibility of involving journalists in training on anti-disaster management.
