Activists call for establishment of environment ministry

TEHRAN,July 4(MNA)– Activists in Iran have called on the government to establish a special ministry for the protection of the environment. In a statement released at the end of 6th National Conference on the Environment on Tuesday, the participants called on the government to merge the two already existing organizations responsible for the protection of the environment, and to create a ministry which could be held accountable to Parliament in the event of damage to Iran’s ecology or wildlife.
