Advance Ballots Under Close Watch

BANGKOK, March 18 (TNA) - Thailand Post has deployed 3,000 officials to sort and deliver advance ballot papers to 350 voting constituencies before they will be counted along with ballots cast on March 24. More than 2.6 million voters were register to exercise their right in the advanced voting yesterday. Thailand Post is tasked with sorting and delivering advance ballots cast overseas and outside the constituencies to 350 constituencies nationwide. After the polling stations closed yesterday, the Election Commission has sent advanced voting ballots to Thailand Post’s headquarters in Bangkok’s Lak Si district for sorting processes around the clock. Election watchdogs, political parties and public members can observe the ballot segregation there through the CCTV cameras. Managing Director of Thailand Post, Samorn Terdthampibul said all processes will be carried out carefully in fully accountable and transparent manner, safeguarded by the Royal Thai Police. The segregated ballots will be sent to police stations in 350 constituencies in the Thailand Post vans, escorted by police vehicles. The advanced ballots will be kept at the police stations before being delivered to the polling stations by March 23. (TNA)
