Ahmadinejad To Attend OIC Extraordinary Summit

Tehran, Aug 13, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will travel to Saudi Arabia on Monday to participate in the extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), scheduled in Mecca from August 14-15. Talking to IRNA on Sunday, Director General of the International Affairs Department at Presidential Office, Mohammad-Reza Forghani said the president will visit Saudi Arabia upon an invitation from Saudi King Abdullah. Noting that Iran is an active and influential member of the OIC, Forghani said Iran will participate in the Mecca summit to discuss key Muslim world issues, forging unity and preventing the plots hatched against the Muslim world. He said Iran is one of the main member states and a pillar of the OIC which has participated in all OIC meetings thus far. Ending his remarks, Forghani said the Islamic Republic of Iran has always offered helpful and fruitful points on issues related to the OIC./end
