AMBASSADOR PARTICIPATES IN INT’L FORUM ON TRILATERAL COOPERATION

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Republic of Korea Mr B.Ganbold took part in the 2014 international forum for trilateral cooperation held April 15 in Seoul under a theme "The Unity in Diversity - Fostering East Asian Identity & Spirit of Community". Head of the secretary-general of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) and Ambassador of Japan Mr Shigeo Iwatani made the opening remarks at the forum, and then an advisor to the South Korea’s President on foreign policy and security Chu Chol Gi delivered a speech. The Mongolian Ambassador B.Ganbold; and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation (RF) Mr K.V.Vnukov gave reports, representing their countries. Moreover, the Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland A.Donahue delivered a report, representing the European Union (EU) and Mr Thomas Wuchte represented the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Mr Ganbold’s report had a theme “Integration new model in Northeast Asia: confidence building and strong bilateral cooperation” which was delivered at a sub-meeting titled "Wisdom of integration-When Northeast Asia Encounters the West". By his report, he introduced to the participants an initiative of the Mongolian President on Ulaanbaatar Talks on Security in Northeast Asia. In addition, Mr Ganbold touched upon issues of Mongolia’s possibility to serve as an international mediator for the region, and then expressed a willingness to join the trilateral cooperation structure. Mongolia officially took part in the trilateral cooperation forum for the first time, reporting about its policy and actions.
