Approaches of Russia, Kuwait towards settlement in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen close or identical

MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. Russia and Kuwait have pointed to the similarity or identity of approaches towards the resolution of the conflicts in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday following visit of Russian presidential envoy for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov to Kuwait City.
He was received by Kuwait’s Acting Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sabah al-Khaled al-Sabah and held another round of consultations with Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled al-Jarallah. "Considerable attention during the confidential exchange of views was given to the pressing regional problems, including the task of countering the universal threat posed by ISIS and other terrorist groups," the ministry said.
"(They) pointed to the similarity or identify of the approaches of Russia and Kuwait regarding the ways of resolving the conflicts in Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen as well as the Palestinian problem through a broad national dialogue based on international law and with the constructive assistance from the world community."
The two sides also discussed the issue of ensuring collective security in the Gulf region, including the provisions of the relevant Russian concept conveyed to the Kuwaiti partners, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
According to it, "there was a substantive discussion of an array of issues pertaining to further development of the traditionally friendly Russian-Kuwaiti relations in the light of the implementation of the agreements reached following visit of Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Russia in November 2015." The two sides also reaffirmed their intention to deepen active political dialogue and boost mutually advantageous cooperation in trade, economic, humanitarian and other areas, the ministry said.
They also discussed the schedule of forthcoming bilateral contacts at various levels with an emphasis on preparations for a meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Kuwaiti commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation to be held in Moscow in April and May and a ministerial meeting within the framework of the strategic dialogue between Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
Earlier reports said that Bogdanov held consultations in Qatar, Kuwait and Egypt between April 2 and April 8.
