Armenian President To Participate In Tehran NAM Summit

Yerevan, July 10, IRNA – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan in a meeting here Monday with visiting Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar announced his willingness to participate at Tehran Non Aligned Movement Summit in September. In his meeting with Najjar, Sargsyan further reiterated, that consultations among officials of both countries' officials will lead to ever more strengthening of Iran-Armenia relations. Sargsyan termed Tehran-Yerevan relations as “good and still improving” adding that the Armenia Republic tries its best to fully implement all reached agreements with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Referring to the 20th anniversary of the two countries’ relations, President Sargsyan said, “Our relations are beyond that date and quite historic, and serve as a very good foundation for comprehensive expansion and deepening of bilateral cooperation and ties.” The Armenian leader said that Armenia is also fully ready for expansion of provincial and border relations with Iran, adding, “The two countries’ ties are friendly and based on good neighborly basis, and we are glad to see that our bilateral ties are still expanding.” The Armenian president at the end pointing out that the NAM Summit would be held this coming September in Tehran, said that he would participate in it. Najjar, for his part, conveyed President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s oral message to his Armenian counterpart President Sargsyan, considered Armenia of a very significant position in Iran’s foreign policy, adding, “The existing numerous potentials for expansion of ties call for greater efforts aimed at increasing the volume of bilateral trade.” Referring to the good and strong relations and interactions between the Iranian Armenians and their brethren in Armenia, he asked for facilitating and making easier the frequenting of the two countries’ citizens to each others soils. Najjar referred to the two countries’ relations and border commercial and trade interactions, announcing Tehran’s readiness for signing a security cooperation agreement between the two countries, adding, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready for sharing its experience in the fields of anti narcotics campaign, organized crime, crisis management, dam and road construction with Armenia Republic and there are no limits and barriers for expansion of ties and cooperation with Yerevan.” Mostafa Najjar arrived in Yerevan on Monday on a formal visit to Armenia.
