Army Cyber Centre on lookout for hackers

BANGKOK, Dec 19 (TNA) -- The Thai Army Cyber Centre said that a group of international hackers is trying to hack into the Thai governmental websites, warning every agency to be extra careful and to increase their safety system such as turning on the Firewall. Army Cyber Centre Director Maj Gen Ritthee Intarawut said he has received reports of unusual cyber attacks on the government server system, in which the attacks had led back to the movement of an international hacker group. He has ask all concerned agencies and officials to increase the security at their cyber ports to prevent the hack. He said if the system is not in used it should be temporarily shut down, while rule and firewall should be turned on to help ensure security. He stressed that concerned officials should also be on the lookout for attacks at all times and should coordinate with cyber experts on how to properly secure the highest level of security against computer hacking. Maj Gen Ritthee noted that the Army Cyber Centre is only responsible in ensuring security for the Army's cyber system, as well as to notify warnings on cyber attacks or on the spreading of sensitive information via the internet which could endanger national security, adding the centre does not have any jurisdiction to implements laws nor have any legal rights to gather personal information of users.
