Arrogant Powers In Messy Situation: IRGC Official

Isfahan, March 16, IRNA – Arrogant powers are in a messy situation, the Supreme Leaderˈs representative at Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Hojatoleslam Ali Saeedi said on Thursday. He made the remarks in the farewell ceremony of Supreme Leaderˈs representative at Isfahan’s IRGCˈs Saheb Azzaman corps. “Enemies are doing their best to deviate the ongoing Islamic revolutions in the region; Iranian nation is committed to resist arrogant powers including the US; Enemies are trying to influence Iranian nation by economic pressures and force them to stand against the Islamic Republic.” He added that influencing the upcoming 2013 presidential election in Iran is another part of the enemy’s scenarios to contain the Islamic Republic’s progress forward. Since the start of 2011, the region has been witnessing a growing wave of popular protests resulted from the peopleˈs growing awareness and vigilance. Tunisia saw the overthrow of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in a popular revolution in January 2011, which was soon followed by a revolution that toppled Hosni Mubarak in Egypt in February 2011. Libya was the third country touched by the Islamic Awakening. Libyans also embraced victory after months of bloody campaign against the countryˈs dictator, Muammar al-Qaddafi. Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Yemen have since been the scene of protests against their rulers, who have resorted to crackdown on demonstrations to silence their critics. In Yemen, although the people have toppled the dictator and elected a president, the revolution still continues as allies and family members of the former dictator, Ali Abdullah Saleh, still hold key posts in the country and have not been brought to justice./end
