Asean Defence Ministers meet in Singapore

BANGKOK, Feb 5 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister/Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon will attend the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) Retreat in Singapore from February 5-7. ASEAN Defence Minister will meet to exchange views on addressing regional security challenges and boosting anti-terrorism cooperation. Gen Prawit will also have an informal meeting with Chinese Minister of National Defence Gen Chang Wanqua to discuss security cooperation and a joint marine drill between China and ASEAN. All related meetings will help strengthen ties among ASEAN members and drive cooperative mechanism under ASEAN’s political and security pillar for tangible results. As Asean chairman in 2018, Singapore will host the formal ADMM and the ADMM-Plus meetings, which includes other countries like the United States, China in October. (TNA)
