Blast Kills 1, injures 19 In Port City Of Karachi

Islamabad, Aug 18, IRNA – At least one person was killed and 19 others were injured in a blast that took place in Pakistani port city of Karachi on Friday, local media reported. Two cars were also reported to have been destroyed in the explosion that took place near Safari Park. Contingents of police and Rangers reached the site of the blast and cordoned off the area. Preliminary reports said the bomb appeared to have targeted a bus transporting participants of today’s al-Quds rally. The passengers were students of Imamia Students Organization (ISO). Reports said that the bomb also caused damage to shops located in the area that had been planted on the side of the road. No group has yet claimed responsibility of the attack. The injured were shifted to local hospital. Some of the injured are in critical situation. Official sources said explosive was thrown by the terrorists however; eyewitness said that the explosion was caused by planted device fixed on the roadside./end
