Bogdkhan Mountain worshiping ceremony expected in October
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Heaven Hallowing State Worship Ceremony for Bogdkhan Mountain is to be organized on October 7, 2015. The decision was made by the Citizens Representatives Khural of Ulaanbaatar on August 18.
The presidential decree no. 181, issued in 2012, directs such worshiping ceremonies should be held every five years for five mountains – Ikh Takhilgat Khairkhan, Altan Khokhii, Tavan Bogd of Altaikhan, Suvarga Khairkhan, Burkhan Khaldun and Bogdkhan.
The citizens’ khural chose date of the ceremony as October 7 – an auspicious 25th day of month of the Rooster, middle month of autumn, of the XVII sexagenary year of the Sheep, according to the Mongolian chronology.
Bogdkhan Mountain is one of four mountains that overlook the capital city Ulaanbaatar. It is elevated 2,261 meters (7,418 ft) above sea level. The Bogdkhan Mountain, along with Mongolia's other sacred mountains Burkhan Khaldun and Otgontenger, was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List on August 6, 1996 in the Cultural category.
Bogd Khaan’s Government of Mongolia made the mountain a protected site for its beauty in 1783.
